World in darkness 23 - 25 Dec 2012

Today I received the e-mail (as below), about having no sunlight for 3 days this year. Don't know la if it's true or not.

The e-mail contents:

NASA predicts total blackout on 23-25 Dec 2012 during alignment of Universe.

US scientists predict Universe change, total blackout  of planet for 3 days from Dec 23 2012.

It is not the end of the world, it is an alignment of the Universe, where the Sun and the earth will align for the first time. The earth will shift from the current third dimension to zero dimension, then shift to the forth dimension. During this transition, the entire Universe will face a big change, and we will see a entire brand new world.

The 3 days blackout is predicted to happen on Dec 23, 24, 25....during this time, staying calm is most important, hug each other, pray pray pray, sleep for 3 nights...and those who survive will face a brand new world....for those not prepared, many will die because of fear. Be happy, enjoy every moment now.  Don't worry, pray to God everyday. Yup, the day has finally arrived - Helo Helo is no longer in the XFM Underground chart.

Anyhow, it has been there for 5 weeks and peaked at no.4, so I'm thankful to all of you who voted for it.

Will try my best to get the next song into XFM!

Seeing ghost in Bukit Cina

A few years ago, my friend M, was out with 3 of his friends. It was around 1 something in the morning and his friends wanted to do something daring.

So they decided to go to the cemetery at Bukit Cina. He decided to not go up the hill with them and decided to just wait for them down. M found a Malay coffee shop nearby and went in.

There was a group of people playing 'dam' board game, and no one bothered to look at him when he came in (typical Malaysian style is to look at anyone who step in a shop, rite?). There was also a guy cleaning the table and sort. An old lady passed some things to the people there. M was just waiting for someone to take his order but no one bothered.

A while later, the old lady came over to his table and asked what did he want. He said a hot coffee, since it was a cold night. After some time of silence in the cafe, the group who was playing the 'dam' game made some sound among each other. That made M a little relieved.

When his friends were done roaming around the cemetery, and not seeing any ghosts, they called him, saying that they're coming down. When he wanted to pay for the coffee, it was only 60 or 80 sen, he couldn't remember. He told me it was the best coffee he's ever tasted. Then he went off to meet up with his friends a few distance away and they left.

Recently, he met up with some friends and they talked about ghost stories. This incident popped up, as he was saying about those 3 guys going up to the cemetery and he just waited at the coffee shop nearby. One of his friends who stays at bukit cina, said there was never a malay coffee shop opened at night along the particular location he mentioned. They went back to the place because M was sure there was one. They could not find it even after making a few rounds.

Guess the shop never existed. It's a mystery how he sat and drank non existence things. And, ahem, to give out money into thin air.. ha ha.

What's with Malaysian bands today?

When I was younger and was in a quite a number of bands, I went through this.

Why is it that bands have to find an identity @ label and then direct themselves to only doing that kinda music. One common example, a group of 3 or 4 boys get together and start jamming Blink 182 or Green Day songs. The band members, especially the vocalist, would start being a 'voice-wannabe' of that famous band's vocalist.

And when people ask them, hey what kinda music do you play? They would be like 'oh, something like green day and all'. And when they start making their own music, they'll restrict themselves to making their songs sound like Green Day songs. Probably, song A is 'inspired' by Basket Case. And when the idea of putting something different, something different enough that it when people hear it, they would not hear Green Day, like maybe another kind of drum fills put it (something far maybe from the funk flavor), they would shrug the idea and be like 'hey, we're punk rockers, this is not punk rock.

WHY BLOCK CREATIVITY AND HONESTY?

Not to mention when a group of girls get together, or maybe a band with a female vocalist. They would most probably be making music that fits it the 'feel' of the Cranberries, Paramore, Evanescence.

And don't start about the wardrobe. Oh my. It's like those teenage American movies that you watch. They have the hip hop, the rockers, the psychedelic 70's, the country type, the goth, etc. And you have to pick which one of the cliche groups you most resembled in charactor (or the music you like), and then you have to start buying clothes that shows the identity and make up accordingly. Man, has the Americans shaped the world or what?!

So what if a girl who might have a rebellious attitude but loves wearing a dress and not into blue-purple-pink-green hair, and actually has manners but at the same time maybe love heavy metal and rap music all the same? But she fights for what she believes in and the music speaks to her emotionally.

WHY DON'T YOU WEAR AND FEEL THE WAY YOU FEEL LIKE EXACTLY, NOT MAKING SURE YOU FIT INTO A SPECIFIED CHARACTOR.

Ya, I know, people would say, it's show business and if you want to pursue it 'well', you gotta have a focus group. But people, what are the chances of you being a legend if you're not creating something new - breaking the cliche and doing as you feel - now that would be an original, not another wannabe.

I feel B.O.B. is interesting :)

Girls & Guitars in News Straits Times

On saturday, I played at the Girls & Guitars III gig at Laila's Cafe, PJ. May Ling played the guitar too.

The gig was a charity event for Pride Foundation, a breast cancer awareness organisation.

ROTTW magazine review on my EP

Yay! ROTTW magazine did a review on my EP in this month's edition.

The best part is that the person who made me wanna write songs when I was 12 years old is on the cover of the magazine - Noel Gallagher! Oasis also drove my brother and I to beg my mother to get us a guitar hahaha. What's the Story Morning Glory is one of the best albums of all time, by the way.

My reply to the magazine: Thanks alot for taking the time!! And yea, actually that was kind of the goal, to make it simple but catchy, more to mainstream listening, but with messages in the songs. I'd love people to enjoy my music :) And nah, Wendy Wednesday will never be a band. It's difficult to handle many people's schedules. Haha. I want FREEDOM. It'll just be a solo project, with many interested & talented musicians
jamming in.

Someone posted up Impian lyrics, wow!

I was browsing through the internet today, and I stumbled upon a lyrics site that had my song lyrics! Wow somebody actually posted up my lyrics. And they got the words right too. I'm guessing that they heard 'Impian' from Xfm...??
